If you still have any of these paper £10 notes featuring Charles Darwin knocking around, don’t forget they will cease to be legal tender on 1 March – so spend or exchange them now! The new smaller polymer notes featuring Jane Austen were introduced last September.

Twyford Twinning Association will be welcoming a delegation from Cuincy in France over the weekend of 23-25 March for a familiarisation visit, the laying of a wreath at the war memorial and the signing of the twinning agreement between the two locations. Spring is (nearly) sprung, and will end with a spectacular return of the entertainment extravaganza that is TwyFest. This year’s festival will run from 26 May to 3 June – so get it in the diary and keep an eye out for more details coming soon!

Another one for the diary: Did you know that Saturday 19 May is not only the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle but also FA Cup Final day? Two reasons for a wonderful community event in Twyford, centred around a large screen at St Mary’s church broadcasting both events live.

Smart Works Reading, a charity that helps vulnerable women back into work, is advertising two job vacancies for a full time Office Manager and a part time Development Officer (6 month contract). Upcoming events by the charity include a presentation of the spring/summer collection with Hobbs at the Oracle on 22 March, a shopping event with Winser London in Marlow on 29 March, a masterclass with Kiehl’s skincare at the Oracle on 12 April and a designer sale at South Street Arts Centre in Reading on 19 May.
