Wargrave Dunkirk Spirit Village Party

Wargrave residents can look forward to a 'freedom party' this summer, involving free boat trips, family-friendly entertainment, paddle board racing and cabaret performers.

It's all being organised by Geoff Knight in collaboration with two village pubs, the St George & Dragon and the Bull. He has been appealing to local boat owners to make up a flotilla on the day, offering hour-long cruises along the river to enable others the opportunity to experience a beautiful reach of the Thames.

The St George & Dragon will be running an all-day barbecue and outdoor bar, with a Dunkirk-themed cabaret on the terrace during the afternoon.

There will be paddleboard races from 3pm, divided into age groups - contact Mr Knight in advance for more information and to register interest.

Meanwhile, the Bull will offer special dishes in addition to its regular lunch menu and will also host a cabaret performance in the evening.

Donation buckets will be in place at both locations for the Sue Ryder palliative care charity.
