Sue Ryder Starlight Hike Thames Valley

The Starlight Hike is a great opportunity to enjoy a nighttime walk with friends and family in memory of loved ones, whilst supporting the work of Sue Ryder Thames Valley.

Choose between a 5km or 10km walk, winding through the beautiful grounds of the Mapledurham Estate offering breathtaking views across the Thames.

Join hundreds of others coming together to remember and celebrate loved ones and to raise vital funds for Sue Ryder. Walk in memory of someone special, to show your appreciation for the incredible Sue Ryder Nurses, or simply take part because you believe everyone deserves expert care and grief support.

Bright outfits, fancy dress and glow sticks are warmly encouraged. Stunning light installations, including coloured waves marking each kilometre, will guide your way and help you celebrate every moment.

You’ll enjoy live music, an energising Zumba warm‑up, and the uplifting experience of walking alongside your community, as we celebrate the lives of those we love and miss.

Along the route, you’ll find a special remembrance area where you can place a star in memory of someone special.

As the route is uneven, it is unsuitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs or mobility vehicles.

The Sue Ryder charity supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition, they are there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers offer compassion and expert care, helping people to live the best life they possibly can. The charity provides palliative and neurological support both from specialist centres and in people's homes, through facilities including the Duchess of Kent Hospice in Reading and the Palliative Care Hub South Oxfordshire for in-home care.
