Following the success of its debut in 2024, Acorn Open Studios returns with an even bigger creative offering in 2026, with 30 artists welcoming visitors into their working studios across East Berkshire.
The third annual Acorn Open Studios event will be held over the weekend of 7–8 November. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet the artists and see where and how they create their work.
Six of the venues this year form a local cluster right here in RG10.
Twyford, Hurst and Charvil feature a diverse mix of creative practices:
- Liz Chaderton, Hurst: creating art to remind us of the wonder in the world, sharing her infectious enthusiasm for watercolour and mixed media
- Sonia Scott-Job, Twyford: capturing movement and light through dynamic seascapes and expressive pastel landscapes
- Sandy Walters, Twyford: making tactile stoneware and porcelain ceramics with rich textured glazes
- Manuela Kagerbauer, Twyford: creating visually stimulating, immersive installations and objects using mixed media
- Linda Saul, Charvil: producing mixed media paintings focused on landscapes, with a particular interest in changes over the passage of time
- Susan Thomas, Charvil: inspired by the everyday and objects that catch her eye, looking to capture colour or a moment in time using a variety of media.
Acorn Open Studios is family-friendly and open to all: just drop in at any venue throughout the weekend between 10.30am and 4.30pm.
Alongside viewing and potentially purchasing original work, prints, and one-off gifts, visitors can also enjoy informal demonstrations and conversations about process.
Pick up a leaflet and get it stamped at each studio: visit five or more to be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win one of three luxury art goodie bags. Most of the artists are contributing a handmade gift or art-related item and each bag will be worth £100 – a true celebration of local, independent creativity, just in time for Christmas.
