The Henley Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 50th anniversary with a concert at the Hexagon in Reading on 15 March 2020. Under the guidance of Ian Brown, celebrating 25 years as Music Director, the HSO is one of the country's leading amateur orchestras.

The HSO welcomes the internationally acclaimed pianist Eric Lu in Mozart's dark and dramatic Piano Concerto No 20 in D minor. Following his unprecedented success as winner of the 2018 Leeds International Piano Competition at the age of 20, he made his BBC Proms debut in summer 2019.

Dvorak’s famous Symphony No. 9, ‘From the New World’, influenced by indigenous American folk tunes, has an apparently inexhaustible flow of melodies. The HSO last played this symphony at its first Hexagon concert in 1999, making it a fitting conclusion to this very special anniversary concert.
