** UPDATE 19 MARCH - SADLY THE 2020 EVENT IS CANCELLED *** Follow the Henley Arts Trail Facebook page for news about the artists. HAT will be back for the May Bank Holiday weekend in 2021.
The most eagerly anticipated arts event in the Henley-on-Thames calendar is back for its 15th year running.
Covering an area of 50 square miles of beautiful countryside from Bix to Hurst and Shiplake to Waltham St Lawrence, the trail usually attracts more than 10,000 visitors over the 3-day May bank holiday weekend.
For 2020 only, the event will be held over two days on the first weekend of May. This is because the bank holiday was moved to Friday 8 May to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day, and many other special events are planned.
From skilled amateurs to award winning professionals, the trail covers the full gamut of arts and crafts. Larger-than-life sculptures sit alongside delicate jewels; abstracts are juxtaposed against detailed botanical art.
Venues vary from artists' studios to village halls. All have free entry, and many offer refreshments, demonstrations or workshops. The trail is also an important fundraiser for local charities.
