The Wargrave Local History Society was founded in 1981. Its object is to provide a common meeting ground for the study and discussion of, and research into, history in general, and of the local area in particular.
The Society supports the work of the Wargrave Heritage Trust, is affiliated to the Berkshire Local History Association and is a member of the British Association for Local History.
The Society holds monthly meetings that usually include an interesting talk. These are held on the second Tuesday of each month except August, starting at 8pm in the Pavilion in Recreation Road, Wargrave. In July, instead of the usual meeting, there is a visit to a place of local history interest. The Society also arranges other activities from time to time such as local history walks.
The Society has published three books about local history and a guide to village walks. For more information about these, the activities of the Society and notes of past meetings, visit the website using the link provided.
