Most of the year 3 intake at Polehampton Junior School comes from Polehampton Infant School.
To ensure a smooth transition for the children as they enter Key Stage 2 education, information is passed regularly from the infant school and a series of familiarisation visits and activities are organised to help prepare the children for their new environment.
These include a ‘Buddy Scheme’ in which Year 2 children are paired with children in Year 5 during the summer term before transfer.
As Year 6 children, the Buddies then take care of the new Year 3 children while they settle into their new school.
