Mostly G&S was founded by Jill Morgan and John Lawes in 2009 as a performing company dedicated to operetta, particularly the topsy-turvy world of Gilbert and Sullivan. The group rehearses on Wednesday evenings in Reading and aims to perform twice a year at the Oakwood Centre in Woodley.
Whilst specialising in the operettas of WS Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan, the group also perform works by other composers such as Franz Lehár, Johann Strauss and Jacques Offenbach.
Mostly G&S have developed a very specific way of performing concert versions of the shows in a semi-staged way that allows the story to be conveyed while the music really shines through.
The group meets on Wednesdays from 8pm to 9.45pm at Park United Reformed Church in Palmer Park, Reading. New members welcome!
