The Adopt-a-Street scheme has been operating in Twyford and Ruscombe since 2010 and now has over 50 volunteer litter pickers who aim to keep their road, a group of streets, or local footpaths free from rubbish.

They cover a good proportion of the roads in the villages but there are still areas in need of some TLC, so new volunteers are always welcome. You will be provided with a litter picker, green ‘Adopt-a-Street’ bags and a high-visibility jacket and it’s entirely up to you when and how often you go out litter picking.

Volunteers get the satisfaction of tidier neighbourhoods acting as a deterrent against more litter being dropped and also benefit from outdoor exercise.
