Anna has nursed her sick and controlling husband for the past 20 years. Following his recent death, her retired headmistress friend Nancy has invited her for a weekend in Paris. Joining them will be another old schoolfriend, Rachel, who used to have pigtails and buck teeth, but has changed both her image and name and is now ‘Raquel’. Then there is Madame Boussiron, the landlady, and Charlot, an out of work actor who was once in a film with Catherine Deneuve although his scene was cut. When not acting he does odd jobs, mostly for Madame Boussiron, who expects a little more than plumbing!
A feel-good play with laughter and tears and the advantages and disadvantages of growing old. With French cafe music from the 50s and 60s, We’ll Always Have Paris will leave you charmed, amused, thoughtful – and singing all the way home!
We’ll Always Have Paris by Jill Hyem, directed by Ann Roberts.
