Twyford Twinning Association

Twyford signed a twinning agreement in March 2018 with the town of Cuincy in northern France. The twinning relationship will include regular cultural and sporting exchanges between clubs, societies and businesses with common interests, and foster the formation of friendships over the years.

Cuincy is located close to Lens and Lille and has a population of around 7,000 residents - similar in size to Twyford. There is a British cemetery in Cuincy and others in the area: the twinning agreement was signed in time to plan join events to mark the centenary of WW1 later in 2018.

The Twyford Twinning Association was established in 2017 by representatives of various interest groups to take the project forward following the initial approach from Cuincy to Twyford Parish Council. Following the signing of the twinning agreement, the role of the association has become one of coordinating, facilitating, supporting and communicating the activities taking place between related groups in the two locations.

Meetings are usually held on the third Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm in the Twyford Centre in Polehampton Close (also known as the Age Concern day centre).

Any additional individuals, clubs or businesses interested in getting involved or being kept informed of progress would be very welcome to join the meetings, bringing in a wider representation from the local community.
