The Twyford Singers are looking forward to performing once again this Easter in St Mary’s Church, Wargrave.
The 'Gloria', composed around 1715, is one of Antonio Vivaldi’s most popular compositions and one of the most regularly performed sacred works from the Baroque era. Its wonderfully sunny nature, with distinctive melodies and rhythms, is characteristic of all Vivaldi’s music, giving it an immediate and universal appeal.
The ever-popular John Rutter wrote his own 'Gloria' in 1974. The music is simple and direct in style and Rutter’s own comment on this work is ‘exalted, devotional and jubilant’.
The choir will be performing extracts from both works and are delighted to be welcoming back Robert Jones, organist at St Bride’s Church in Fleet Street, London.
Tickets will be available nearer the time from members, Ticketsource or on the door.
