For three days in July, Caversham’s Christchurch Meadows will 'get down' to Grammy nominees, almost 80 UK Top 40 hits, Radio 1 and 6 Music staples, and a huge selection of home-grown Reading acts.
Heading up the bill for the event are Sleeper, The Brand New Heavies and The Orb (30th Anniversary Greatest Hits Set), who are joined by video splicing geniuses Cassetteboy vs DJ Rubbish, reggae chart toppers Musical Youth, electro punks Audio Bullys, eighties indie popsters The Primitives, The Bluetones’ frontman Mark Morriss, Jurassic 5′s Soup presents Fullee Love Collective, BBC 6Music approved new talent Ibibio Sound Machine and J.P. Bimeni & The Black Belts, future festival headliners Saltwater Sun and The Keep Cats plus local favourites Jewels Music & The Jacuzzis and The Skangsters (playing The Specials’ debut album in full). In addition to the music, there’ll be Aim to Fly UK circus performances and workshops, Etsy – Reading Team’s indie market, Thames Rivercruise boat trips and much more. NB: there is no camping available on site.
All profits from the festival go to help Readipop charity’s music projects in the local area. Established in 1998, Readipop is an innovative music and arts charity with a strong reputation for inspirational, engaging arts projects that make a positive difference in people’s lives. The team is passionate about the power of music to communicate and bring people together. Their work celebrates the joy of creativity and community as vital ingredients for a fulfilled life.
