Mentor a fatherless boy in Reading

Reading-based charity Chapter2, which provides male mentors for fatherless boys, is hosting a mentor training day for anyone interested in mentoring a fatherless boy in the local area.
The training day will take place on 3 October at Reading Family Church from 9am. Attending the training day does not obligate you to become a mentor, but men who are interested in mentoring are encouraged to take part to learn if it's something they'd be willing to commit to.
The UK has one of the worst statistics for family breakdown in Europe. Approximately 2 million children have no meaningful contact with their fathers. Male role models at school and in the workplace have become rarer. An increase in digital communication and lone working can isolate boys further into adulthood. Many seek a form of masculinity through an alternative path, which may lead to involvement in gangs and crime.
It doesn't have to be like this: forming a trusted unconditional friendship with a male role model can have a postive impact on a boy's physical and mental health and potentially change the course of their life.
