To celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Hurst Parish Council, sponsored by Stanlake Park Wine Estate, is organising several events over the extended bank holiday, including a village treasure hunt to complete any time over the four days from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June 2022.
Thursday 2nd June – Jubilee Beacon
To commence the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the beacon will be lit by Lucy Zeal, Deputy Lieutenant of Berkshire at 9.45 pm. The beacon is being specially made for the village by Haines Hill Estate. St Nicholas Church will be open appropriately decorated, and it is planned to have the tower bells ringing that evening together with handbells ringing out the national anthem and a piper playing 'Diu Regnare'. A 100 strong rock choir will be singing on the hill with a traditional choir singing A SONG FOR THE COMMONWEALTH ‘A Life Lived with Grace'.
