Hurst Morris People taster session

Fancy a fun night out – keeping an old English tradition alive? If so, head down to Hurst Morris People’s have-a-go morris dancing sessions. The dance side, celebrating its 30th anniversary year, will share with you:

  • Easy to learn dances, taught by friendly teachers
  • Superb live music
  • Lots of fun
  • Exercise that beats the gym!

Hurst Morris People Squire (leader) Karen Ricketts said: ‘Everyone is welcome for a fun evening out, with no strings attached. We welcome potential dancers and musicians – you don’t need experience of morris.

‘Our members are of all ages and backgrounds. We’re a mixed side of men and women so you can bring your other half with you.

‘We have a break for tea, coffee and home made cake. Then afterwards, we'll take you to one of Hurst's cosy pubs.’

Hurst Morris People, known as HuMP, dances at pubs, schools, fetes, stately homes and folk festivals. They dance the Cotswold tradition – the one with hankies and sticks.

The side also organises Hurst’s annual May Day celebration with maypole dancing, a spring barn dance and a Christmas dinner.

The taster sessions will be held on two Thursdays, 26 September and 3 October, from 8pm to 10pm at Hurst Village Hall. For more details, email contact@hump.org.uk or visit www.hump.org.uk and follow @hurstmorris on Facebook.
