Henley Literary Festival

The 2017 Henley Literary Festival is set to be the biggest and best yet, with well over 100 talks, interviews, readings and performances during the first week of October. Speakers will include Mary Berry, Russell Brand, Roddy Doyle, June Sarpong, Phil Tufnell, Paula Hawkins and Michael Parkinson.

This year there will be over 40 events for families with children, offering something for all ages from babies to teenagers and involving authors such as Clare Balding, Michael Morpurgo, Greg James, Alison Steadman, Danny Baker and many more. There will also be school talks with David Baddiel, Holly Smale and Christian O'Connell. This year sees the festival's first event for babies, with a Pat-A-Cake sensory storytelling, while older children and teens can enjoy writing workshops and a Q&A session with acclaimed novelist Katherine Rundell.

Venues include Henley Town Hall, the historic Kenton Theatre, Phyllis Court Club and the Baillie Gifford Festival Hub marquee in the town square. The festival runs from 2 to 6 October and a preview weekend will be held over 30 September and 1 October, with free events and writing workshops. A short story competition is running in partnership with Dragonfly Tea, with a deadline of 31 July.
