Ruscombe Wood is a beautiful piece of woodland found off Castle End Road in Ruscombe. It is known locally as Bluebell Wood because of the carpet of bluebells that can be found there every spring. The Friends, aka ‘Forwood’, were established in 1992 when the wood’s owners, Twyford Orchards Trust, granted them a license for conservation management.

This followed a public walk and meeting instigated by the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV), now known as The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), who felt that the wood was a prime site for reviving its traditional management for the benefit of both the flora and fauna and the public.

In August 2022, the Friends became part of Econet.

The Friends organise monthly tasks throughout the year, normally on the first Saturday of the month.
