Book signing with local author Sarah Swatridge

Meet local writer Sarah Swatridge in person at the Easter Crafts Fair hosted by The Berkshire Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers on 12 April 2025 at Charvil Village Hall.

Sarah has had 12 novels published, mostly historical (often set around the late Victorian period), but including a 'cosy crime' and a western.

She has also had well over 100 articles and short stories published in a variety of women's magazines.

Sarah's latest book, ‘Feel-Good Stories’, is available on Amazon. It is a collection of 20 uplifting short stories, full of memorable, quirky characters such as the heroic postie, the eccentric duke, a spoilt parrot, a true friend and a determined would-be husband.

In order to empathise fully with her characters, she likes to conduct her research and immerse herself in their lives - for which her memberships of the National Trust and the Berkshire Family History Society have been very useful! She has lived on wartime rations, flown a Spitfire simulator, experimented with natural dyes, and had a session trying on period outfits in Twyford Drama’s costume department.

As the daughter of librarians, Sarah has always loved reading. Her first job was in a bookshop and after a number of other roles, she became a mature student at Reading University retraining as a teacher. She subsequently taught all age groups, including adults in prison.

She now works from home as a full-time writer. She is happily married with two grown up sons and lives in Charvil.

There will be another opportunity to meet Sarah Swatridge from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Friday 30 May  at Sonning Common Library, Grove Road RG4 9RH.
