Twyford residents interested in the future planning of the village are urged to attend this meeting.
The Wokingham Local Plan, currently being updated, will provide a blueprint for the development of the area to 2036. You may have heard of the possibility of major housing development in the Twyford area, prompting many local parish councils to engage with their communities to understand the wishes of local residents, businesses, workers and other users. It’s important that the local community has a voice in this process, and one of the most effective ways of achieving this is through a Neighbourhood Plan.

A Neighbourhood Plan can confer advantages such as more local control over housing needs and the supply of suitable dwellings as well as specific rights over the management of important amenities such as the conservation zone, green spaces, car parking and, importantly, the possibility of bringing extra planning funding to the village. However, it takes the support of the wider community to ensure the maximum possible engagement.

Twyford Parish Council is therefore looking for volunteers to help bring the plan to fruition. The intention is that Twyford residents will be given the opportunity to back or reject vote the plan via a statutory referendum later on. The purpose of this initial meeting is to enable the council to explain more to those with an interest in Twyford and to seek their help.

As the Parish Clerk’s office explained: ‘We will discuss what sort of activities we’ll be undertaking but rest assured, it will require a range of skills and interests and all contributions large or small will be valuable. Please come along if you would like to lend a hand or just to find out a bit more about what’s going on. This is one of the most important ways that you can influence the future of our community and ensure that we have the village we want for ourselves and our children for many years to come. We look forward to seeing you there.’
